Sillyfat is a woman-owned business located in Lexington, Kentucky. Our mission is to provide timeless, well-crafted, quality wardrobe staples. Owner Meagan is a wife to husband Tim, and mother to two boys, Atticus and Gaius.
Frustrated with the lack of well fitting “ready to wear” women’s clothing and the poor quality and ethics of “fast fashion”, Meagan began with a mission to remake her entire wardrobe. Soon, she had a passion to offer what she was doing for herself to women everywhere. All items are small batch sewn and limited runs. She selects and hand cuts all fabrics, and assembles them herself in her sewing studio.
Sillyfat uses a variety of patterns from a variety of designers, but all patterns have been modified and adapted to fit the needs of Sillyfat. Thank you to George & Ginger Pattern Company, Patterns for Pirates, Made for Mermaids, New Horizons Designs, Halla Patterns, and Stitch Upon a Time in particular.
Wondering where the Sillyfat name came from? Meagan’s oldest son Atticus was a micro-preemie born at 26 weeks gestation. During his 90 day NICU stay, they often joked about him “fattening” up. Eventually, he ended up with the nickname “Sillyfat” once he was home from the hospital. Atticus thinks it’s very cool to have a business named after him.
